A Complete Traveler's Guide To The Republic Of Synavia

Synavia is a very small nation. Its neighbors are Blammocratz, Zybaniar, Geissboden, Tekros, Facia, and Bonnabal. Synavia is not yet populous enough to warrant divided states, and instead is simply one nation. Synavia's capital city, Myastarith, is located, somewhat inconveniently, in the far north, where it is surrounded on three sides by Blammocratz, Zybaniar, and Geissboden.

History
Synavia has its beginnings in the Jeniferian War. Possibly the only good thing that ever came of it.
For those unfamiliar, Jeniferia, a large dictatorship, attempted to capture the nation of Hippostania in March 2011. Hippostania rashly detonated three nuclear warheads on the Jeniferia-Cyprocor border. Baelgaria, an environmentally concerned nation, was astonished at this, and the president released this statement on March 18, 2011:

We are attempting to provide aid to the affected areas outside of Jeniferia and Hippostania, rescuing local animal and plant species aswell as human survivors, in an attempt to remain neutral in this conflict.

Baelgaria went to great lengths to follow through with this, and it was not easy, considering the fact that all citizens of Jenifera who, at any time, leave the country, are persecuted for treson, and are often executed. This led to conflict between Jeniferia and Baelgaria. Finally, the Baelgarians rescued their goal number of refugees. Needless to say, the approximately 5 million Jeniferians and Hippostanians were grateful for their rescue from certain death, and they rested happily in Baelgaria, but the refugees grew restless. They were not satisfied with life in Baelgaria. They wanted to form a socially progressive nation to make sure cruel dictatorships like Jeniferia never get formed again. Baelgaria approved of this greatly, and even provided funding. However, Baelgaria refused to transport the refugees, so they had to rely on other nations to help. Avinistratus and Soalma were particularly helpful. The refugees gradually trickled into an unclaimed spot of land with many resources. On March 28, the first 100,000 refugees formed Synavia. There was some conflict at first as to who should hold the title of President, resulting in 6 different leaders within a period of 73 hours. Luckily, when the refugees had been under the protection, Baelgaria had appointed a Council of 25 based on such factors as IQ and conviction. Synavia continues this today. The Council Picked of their own, Alexander Adams, to be President of Synavia, and they renamed themselves the Synavian Parliament. Synavia has had no disturbances since.

Geography:
The Capital: Myasterith is a city of approx. 3.5 million. Its defining feature is the fact that all buildings are painted white. This is not a characteristic that Synavia created; Myasterith was so when it was owned by the nation that previously resided there. When you are approaching Myasterith from the SI-3a, it appears to sparkle and shine. The Parliament Hall is surprisingly small, considering the 200 officials (plus the President) it houses. Most residents live in arrangements called husbunkene, which are basically full-sized houses stacked on top of one another. They are a bit like American apartments, except bigger, and you actually own the property instead of renting it.
There are three main areas of Synavia.

The northern plains: There is no real name for this, but Synavians simply call it "the plain". It is a grassland scattered with deciduous woods. All three major cities, Myasterith, Dranae, and Araea, are located here. Farming is done in these regions.

The Great Synavian Rainforest: This is the greatest rainforest in all of North Sermo. It is home to the Ranan River and innumberable species, including the White Synavian Swallow. This is not the place for a full decription of it. It would fill volumes. I will say it's a great place to go on vacation.

The Araean Rainforest: The city of Araea is on the borders of this rainforest, which is much smaller than the Great Rainforest. It is also drier, and is more evergreen than the Great Rainforest.

The President of Synavia is Alexander Adams. There is a Parliament of 200. Any citizen can step up to fill the position of a released Parliament member if they fill these criteria:
-Are in the same category as the released member. (for example, a man cannot fill the position of a woman on the Board of Females)
-Pass the Test, including tests for IQ, conviction, and determination
-Has no criminal record
-Is over 25

The citizens (as well as Parliament) vote and whoever wins steps up to fill the position.

Language:
Originally, the official language of Synavia was English, but as more Norwegians trickled in, Norwegian eventually became the national language. 70% of Synavians also speak English, most as a second language. A very few still speak Latin, though this is frowned upon by the govenment.

Literacy is mandatory, and those that are not are forced to go to a sort of boarding school for learning language. All teach Norwegian, and most also teach English.
