Ocasus, a relatively medium sized nation, that rests in Northern Sermo, and lies on the coast, is a nation with a very diverse past. Ocasus, neighbors with Machiniosa and Blammocratz to the north, Bonnabal to the east, and Gerschbir, Tarmadia, and Valkry to the south. Ocasus is made up of seven states. Arbor, Ager, Silva, Coqui, Oriens, Lacus, and Dura. The seven states have their own capital cities, with Arbor's capital Aura, serving as the national capital as well.

History

The Democratic States of Ocasus, started off as individual tribes within the modern day borders who thrived and brought up their own cultures. Eventually, the tribes set up governments and eventually became independent provinces. These provinces them became independent nations. With the last to form being the province of Lacus in 1574 AD.

The provinces lived in harmony for the most part, until tensions arose between Ager and Coqui in 1972. The Agerians demanded that the part of their country that contained the rivers and mountains of the Firmus River Valley belonged to them, and declared an annexation of the region. The reason being is that the Ager tribesmen migrated from the area long ago, and in an act of greed by the (at the time) Agerian President, sent troops to Coqui to reclaim their god given lands. Normally, surrounding nations would let the situation play out and leave it to be. At the time though, there were many alliances in the "then" region of Ocasus. Coqui, Arbor, and Silva had military pacts and security deals. On the contrary, Oriens, Dura, Ager, and Lacus had military pacts.

Once Ager invaded Coqui, total war broke out throughout Ocasus. The initial invasion led to Arborian troops sending in troops through Dura, only to clash with the locals. Silva, sent soldiers through Coqui to Oriens, whilst Lacus, attacked Coqui from the south.

The War, officially named the Ocasian Civil War, saw the highest Ocasian death toll in Ocasian history, an approximate 4,534,198 Ocasians, military, and civilian died during the fighting.

A peace treaty was announced in 1981. Through six years of tension, the Arborian Leftist Society's (Now: The Ocasian Liberal Party) leader Pierre Bourdain toured through the Ocasian states pleading the people to fight for unity and democracy in the region. Bourdain's inspiring speeches led to the peoples of Ocasus to finally demanded Self-Determination, and thus, the Arborian Leftist Society's Pierre Bourdain took control of the Ocasian states, and in 1988, turned Ocasus into the Democratic States of. Bourdain was in power from 1988, until 1994, where, he passed away in office due to a heart attack. A month of mourning was declared as many Ocasians stopped and mourned their late leader. Millions traveled to Aura to attend the funeral.

In 1994, Jacque Aizaparte took over power and renamed the Leftist Society to it's modern day name. After 16 years of peace and economical flourishment, Jacque Aizaparte resigned from office. Cisco Zarandin, of the OLP, was then elected as the new leader of Ocasus in February 2011.

Geography

The Capital: Aura, is a city located in the state of Arbor. Renown for it's food, culture, and the Arborian river that runs through the city, the city of Aura is a top destination for tourists across the world. Is home to the Sermo Senate, Ocasian Senate, Ocasian Parliament, and home to the SBC, Aura is a city with much to show.

Provinces in detail:

Arbor - The major province of Ocasus. Outside of the capital Aura, Arbor is known for a subtropical climate, a lovely villages scattered in between forests and farmlands. The beaches of Arbor are renown for being some of the cleanest in the world. In the north, the terrain is generally mountainous.

Dura - Known for extremely harsh landscapes, Dura is home to only a few of the Ocasian population. It's capital city Permaneo has a population of only 57,324. Dura is home to major Ocasian Army bases and training grounds.

Lacus - Old Language for "Lake", Lacus is known for Lake Ocasus, right in the middle of the province. Many locals thrive off tourism and fishing. The capital, Mador is seen as a last stop before a camping weekend.

Ager - Ager is a very flat region known for being the home of the Ocasian Automobile Industry. Most of the people live in and around Aro. The rest of the region is mainly corn crops and plains.

Coqui - Coqui is a wet region, typically more humid than the rest of Ocasus due to the Southern Winds. Most of the region is covered in dense tree growth. The region is also the largest habitat of the Leopard.

Oriens - Oriens is the trade capital of Ocasus. The majority of shipments by land go through Oriens before anywhere else. Multa is home to ALL of Ocasus's shipping industries.

Silva - Silva is a beautiful region known for it's pristine forests. Silva has the most number of plant and animal species anywhere in North Sermo. The people of it's capital Aquilo, have deep ties to their Northern Machiniosan neighbors.

Language:
As a result of close ties to France, and influence over the region, Arborians helped French become the official language of Ocasus. Many Ocasians have learnt English as well, for ease on the international scale, thus, English is the second official language.

There are still a minor percentage of people that still speak Latin, which, was the international standard during the independent province days. Arborian and Coquian dialects deriving from Latin are also still used.

Ocasian Men's National Team History:

Originally, each nation had their own national team. Silva being the only national team to see success, in winning the ICACFOF Premier Cup once (1978).

The Ocasian team after banding together in 1988 won 6 ICACFOF Premier Cups (1989, 1992, 1999, 2004, 2005, 2009). The Ocasian national team also made it to the Nation's Cup Semi-Final in 2002, but lost, 3-4 to Starblaydia in ET.

Antony Blanchard
Antony Blanchard is a Ocasian footballer, born to French parents on October 18, 1975. Antony grew up in Aura, where he played in the Aurian Secondary School league. He was then given a scholarship to play for the University of Aura's varsity team. In 1995, at 20 years old, he was contracted by Aura Athletic, where he played until 1997. He then went abroad to play for Grandis IF in Toppnivå 1. He was the top goalscorer for the club from 98-03. Blanchard now plays for the elite Real Aquilo F.C., Real Aquilo has won the Primus Liga 4 out of the 8 seasons Blanchard has been with the club. He also helped Real Aquilo F.C. achieve their third Sermo Golden Cup and second Champions League Trophy.

International Career - Blanchard started playing for the Ocasian national team in 1998 as a reserve. He was put on the first team in '00, and has helped Ocasus shine in the international club scene. He also is the all-time goalscorer for the national team (167 goals).
