FSUS Declared A No-Entry Zone

FSUS (Former Scientific Unity of Synavia) was yesterday declared a no-entry zone by unanimous Parliament legislation. Synavia has recently been ravaged by an uncanny number of natural disasters, such as four 8.0 or higher earthquakes in the past week and a small volcano forming in the middle of a cornfield. Rixana, Araea and Dranae have been all but obliterated. The death toll has reached over ten million, and as such, our scientists have found that any form of civilization will be near-impossible to sustain for at least ten years or until the tectonic plate activity calms down. All people inside Synavia have been forcefully evacuated and cannot leave, and fences have been erected outside the Synavian border, emblazoned with signs saying "TRESPASSERS WILL BE SHOT. SURVIVORS WILL BE SHOT AGAIN."

To house the many citizens of Synavia who are still loyal to our fair rule, a protectorate will soon be created. Opinions are still divided on the name. Possible names have been narrowed down to "The Protectorate of New Synavia" and "The Protectorate of Synavian Rule". Parliament invites its neighbors to voice their opinions.

Argulor will accept any Synavian citizens unwilling to move into the New Synavia.

Hippostania doesn't believe that Synavia has a right to enforce a no-go zone. As such, our peacekeepers will remain in the area.

We have the right to protect our citizens from massive earthquakes and geothermal rifts opening up in cornfields. A select few scientists will remain in the area for the sole purpose of protecting the Great Synavian Rainforest as best they can.

Actually, "only" ten million died. The rest have emigrated (mainly to Argulor). However, it seems that after we've gotten settled in and the government has re-stabilized, most will return. One emigrating citizen said:

No, what happened was a rift opened up in a cornfield and started spewing lava. It's no more than twelve feet tall at the moment.
