Our ambitious project: Replacing railways with maglev
Parliament of Hippostania has accepted the proposal to replace 90% of domestic railways with maglev trains and tracks within this year. This ambitious project includes replacing all trains with fast, modern, comfortable, quiet and enviromentally friendly maglev trains, and modernizing all railway stations to the new standard. Train tracks will also have to be replaced and 300 kilometers of new maglev track will also be built. However, the railways won't disappear totally. International trains will be still required, since other nations do not use maglev. Commuter trains won't become maglevs either since it wouldn't be very efficient to run maglev trains on them, because of the density of stops and stations.
Hippostania's first railway line that will be replaced with maglev is the busy Quahog-Waverley rail line. This line will be converted to maglev before the end of March.

This is a good move on your part Hippostania, but what are the financial costs of this? It seems like a very expensive maneuver.

Take it from a nation already fully integrated with high-speed maglev, the benefits far outweigh the costs. Combined with solar cells on all trains and stations, along with wind turbines, it is one of the most environmentally friendly ways to travel in Sekkisi.
