Possible Tariffs on Out-Of-Region Dairy Empty Possible Tariffs on Out-Of-Region Dairy

President Gan of Machiniosa has brought up the idea of possible Tariffs implemented on dairy products imported from foreign lands. President Gan has stated that he needs to protect his “vital market”. The tariff was proposed to protect the Machiniosan cheese industry, which is vital to the country’s economy. The possible SS#002 “Dairy Tariff Act” will be in discussion in the Senatorial Chambers.

The official terms of the resolution are as such:

Enact “Dairy Tariff Act”

Resolution SS#002

Proposed by: Pres. Gan of the Republic of Machiniosa

Description: Set a 30% import tariff on all Cheese product entering the region of Sermo

Argument:

ACKNOLEDGING that Machiniosa’s cheese export industry is vital to the country and region as a whole.

ACKNOLEDGING that money raised from the tariff would be received by all countries to spend as they so wish.

BELIEVING that such a tarrif would benefit the region as a whole.

NOTING that regions may impose counter-tariffs

BELIEIVING that deals can be struck with such regions.

The Sermo Senate hereby enacts resolution #002, “Dairy Tariff Act”

The Prime Minister of Ocasus Cisco Zarandin has currently been the only person to weigh in on the issue stating;

Are the counter-tariff’s really worth the risk though?

Think about tariff’s put onto Ocasian Electric™ products, or Tarmadian Automotive™ vehicles. Tariffs on products such as automotive vehicles and electronic goods are surely more devastating towards the region as a whole than a damp in the Machiniosan Cheese market?

The “Dairy Tariff Act” will be in debate until the 4rd of March, 2011.

Possible Tariffs on Out-Of-Region Dairy Empty Re: Possible Tariffs on Out-Of-Region Dairy

The Prime-Minister of Rusknova has declared the "Tarif Bill" to be "very useful to the economy"
With our glorious countries' prime export currently being cheese, our economy is dealt a blow with each cheese product brought in from outside of Sermo. Public opinon is currently undecided but many of those involved in the cheese buisness support the bill and anxiously want it to suceed. With the current economic climate, and the recent job losses in the industry, a Tarif migh tbe just what is needed to boost support for economy. The "Ruskian Times" supports the bill whole-heartedly and it is not just becuase this editors father works as a manager in the "Cheesy Weezy" Cheese buisness.
